The Devil’s Hole location has a rich historical background. Although it has now been developed into a multi-functional complex, in the early stages of its history it was simply a unique natural aquarium affectionately knows as the Devil’s Hole.
This was Bermuda’s first and oldest Tourist Attraction and has retained many of its original features that brought it into prominence. So, the Aquarium continues to be the main attraction at the Devil’s Hole Complex, delighting young and old alike as they attempt to “fish without a hook”. And yes, sometimes they actually catch a fish or two.
In the Aquarium you will find indigenous Bermuda Fish that include-though not restricted to Angel fishes, a Green Murray eel and Jacks. The Devil’s Hole Aquarium is also the home of a True Bermuda Green Turtle that was born in incubation some 14 years ago. Today, this creature is lively and friendly as it graces the aquarium with its delightful presence. Not to be outdone is the ‘Grand Daddy of all Turtle’, ROMEO, who has been in the aquarium for more than 75 years.
The Devil’s Hole Complex also features the Angel Wings Café, and a Gift Shop. The newly constructed Angel Wings Café has a wine and beer licence so that patrons can complement their meal or snack with a more palatable beverage. The restaurant can provide you with a delightful light lunch or a full meal together with ice cream, sodas and a variety of snacks. Angel Wings Café has an upper deck where you can dine, enjoy a beverage, or simply soak up some sun. It has a breathtaking view of Harrington Sound, which suggests that, a ‘picture is worth a thousand words’. Souvenirs and novelty items are usually available at the gift shop.
As an added attraction, you can book your SUNRISE or SUNSET CRUISE around Harrington Sound on the ARGO II. These are only two of the exciting Boat Tour Packages now available. All Tour Packages include Aquarium Admission.
The Devil’s Hole Complex is also conveniently located at 92, Harrington Sound Road, which is approximately 2 minutes away from John’s Smith’s Bay – another Tourist Attraction. If you happen to be on Tour and that Tour features The Bermuda Government Aquarium and Zoo or Crystal/Fantasy Caves you can stop in at Devil’s Hole Complex along the way. This will prove to be a wonderful diversion and you will not be disappointed for making the choice!
