HARRINGTON SOUND TOURS

Sunset Boat Tour

A Cruise that you won’t forget!

The Pond Group of Companies has figured out how it can give tourists the maximum enjoyment in a single outing.

We are pleased to offer,  a Sunset Cruise around Harrington Sound in the Argo II.  The ARGO II will depart at 6:30 PM and cruise the sound for one hour, returning at approximately 7:30 PM. The Aquarium Tour will commence at 8:00 PM sharp and last for ½ hour. At 8:30 PM a Buffet Dinner will be served.

This cruise will indeed culminate into a Delightful Bermuda Night as patrons will get to observe the setting of the sun on the crystal blue waters of  the Harrington Sound.  Such a breathtaking scene always conjures up feelings of peace and serenity.  From the moment the boat leaves the dock at 6.30 pm, the anticipation of a truly memorable evening will begin to envelop you as the sound conveys its own promises and subtle messages.  It may warn  you casually about the strong water currents, or it may reveal its variety of fish that may even include the Whip Murray.  For the asking, it may even reveal to you why it is said that Harrington Sound is a bottomless body of water.  Don’t jump overboard though!  An interesting and exciting commentary will be given throughout the tour that provides visitors with some of the history of the Harrington Sound, and to top it all off, the tour does not end abruptly. When the boat returns to the dock, patrons will then be able to enjoy the Aquarium Tour, and interact personally with some of the species that inhabit the aquarium.  The Devil’s Hole Aquarium is Bermuda’s oldest tourist attraction and has retained many of the features that brought it into prominence. The main attraction that continues to delight the young and old alike is the ‘fishing without a hook’. Yes fishing without a hook! Sometimes you will actually catch a fish, which could be a Jack or Angel fish. But the prize catch is to raise the ire of the green turtle that was born in incubation some 14 years ago. Not to be outdone is the grand daddy of all turtles, Romeo, who has been living at the Aquarium for over 75 years.

After the Aquarium Tour, patrons can dine in comfort under the star- lit upper deck or inside of the Angels Wings Cafe. Beer and Wine bar is available.
Join us under the stars this season. This will be an experience that you will not be likely to forget.  We look forward to seeing you.

SUNRISE BOAT TOUR

A Cruise that is tranquil & tasty!

The SUNRISE BOAT CRUISE is the ideal start to your Sunday Morning. It will set the stage for a tranquil and relaxing day. This Tour Package offers you a wonderful ‘Codfish & Potato Breakfast’- Bermuda Style - admission to Bermuda’s oldest Tourist Attraction, the Devil’s Hole Aquarium; and A cruise around Harrington Sound. This sunrise cruise presents an early morning view of the horizon as you cruise around the Sound.

Harrington Sound is actually a large inland lake and is the northeastern end of the Island. It is surrounded by the main island on all sides, only opening to the ocean via a small channel called FLATT’S INLET in the southwest. Much of the SOUND’S water flows to and from the ocean via subterranean cavern systems, notably Crystal Caves, Fantasy Caves and Leamington Caves. Although you cannot see these caves directly from the SOUND, you can see formations that give you clues to the existence of caves. In fact the entire area is full of caves and little islands. Named after Lucy Harrington, Countess of Bedford, the Harrington Sound is the lowest point on the Bermuda sea platform, being over 20 meters deep in its deepest part.

In addition to covering these exciting details, your Tour Commentator(s) will give you more exciting information about the Sound and the surrounding islands that still exist.

The order of the Tour summarized…

  • BREAKFAST WILL BE SERVED AT 9:00 AM.
  • ADMISSION TO THE DEVIL’S HOLE FOLLOWS AT 10:00 AM, AND THE AQUARIUM TOUR WILL LAST FOR APPROXIMATELY ½ HOUR.
  • ARGO II WILL LEAVE PORT AT 11:00 AM,  AND CRUISE THE SOUND FOR 1 HOUR BEFORE RETURNING TO THE DOCK
